Mr. Les Bird, a legendary figure in Hong Kong's law enforcement community, has had a remarkable career spanning several decades. Born into a family with a naval background in the UK, Mr. Bird arrived in Hong Kong in the 1970s. He began his career in the Marine Police. He rose to the highest-ranking officer in charge of marine police refugee control.
During his time in the Marine Police, Mr. Bird developed a passion for photography. He used his Nikon camera to capture images of the Vietnamese refugees arriving in Hong Kong. His photographs are a valuable historical record of this crucial period in Hong Kong's history.
On May 5-18, Mr. Bird's photographs of the Vietnamese refugees will be exhibited at EastPro Gallery. This exhibition is sure to be of great interest to anyone interested in Hong Kong's history and the challenges faced by the city during this period. Mr. Bird's legacy as a dedicated and passionate law enforcement officer and photographer will continue to inspire future generations.
