Welcome to the captivating world of children's literature and art at KC100 Art Space’s special exhibition – “Night at the Museum”, featuring the esteemed Bologna Children's Book Fair. In its 60th edition, this renowned event celebrates the creativity and imagination found within the pages of children's books. We are delighted to present a unique collaboration between two talented artists from Hong Kong, Chivas Leung and Joanne Liu, who have been recognized for their exceptional contributions to the field. Chivas Leung, recently received the prestigious Special Mention of the COMICS - YOUNG ADULT 2023 award at the Bologna Children's Book Fair. Her remarkable book, "Night Night," captivates readers with its enchanting illustrations and compelling storytelling. Joining her is Joanne Liu, a recipient of the BOLOGNARAGAZZI AWARD in 2018 for Art - Architecture & Design (Special Mention) for her book "My Museum." Joanne's artistic prowess and unique perspective have earned her widespread acclaim. Together, Chivas and Joanne will bring their remarkable works to our exhibition, offering visitors a glimpse into their creative processes and the stories behind their award-winning books. Moreover, this exhibition serves as an opportunity to introduce the Bologna Children's Book Fair itself, a global platform that showcases the latest trends in children's literature. This exhibition is supported by Italian Cultural Institute Hong Kong and is part of Italia on Stage 2023 and a Satellite Event of BODW CityProg. Chivas Leung IG @bestbeforethisdate Chivas Leung (b.1994) graduated from the Academy of Visual Arts, Hong Kong Baptist University in 2018. Her art practice focuses mainly on painting, illustration, comics and printmaking. She sees art-making as a ritual to complete memory, as the irreversible nature of life prompts her to vividly recall past memories. Chivas’ art is always “based on a true story”: while anecdotes in her works are often adapted from real-life experiences. Those stories contain secret clues to retrieve the missing pieces in her memory and commemorate all those times she had. She was awarded as one of the winning illustrators and her comic book, “NIGHT NIGHT” was also awarded “BolognaRagazzi Award - Special Mention” in comics - young adult at Bologna Children’s Book Fair (Italy, 2023). Joanne Liu IG @allthings_hk Joanne is an illustrator living in Hong Kong. She received a special mention from the 2018 Bologna Ragazzi Book Awards for her first children’s book, "My Museum”.
