For fans of: At The Drive In, Fugazi, Sonic Youth, Queens of the Stone Age
Formed in 1994 by childhood friends Conrad Keely and Jason Reece in Austin, Texas, Trail of Dead (ToD) shot to fame in the late 90’s and early noughties as pioneers of a wild, new, energetic rock scene that included At The Drive In and Queens of the Stone Age.
Receiving the rarest of accolades – the highest possible score of 10/10 on Pitchfork, the band were elevated into the upper echelons of indie cool and credibility. Over the next four years the band released two additional albums on Interscope before launching their own label – Richter Scale – which has seen the further releases of The Century Of Self, and Tao Of The Dead. Fast forward to 2012 and the band have completed the recording of their latest album Lost Songs. Dedicated to Pussy Riot and all artists who have attempted to exercise their creativity under the oppression of government, as well as the endemic oppression of an indifference to passion present in our mainstream culture, the album is due for release on Oct 22nd worldwide – perfect timing for their Hong Kong live debut on the 28th.
For live, the band have a reputation that proceeds them as being, quite simply, blindingly brilliant. Rolling Stone famously quoted their live dynamic as a “Post-punk voltron, that just might be the most exciting unit working today.” Certainly, a band that needs to be seen to be believed…
Support on the night comes from HK’s own titans of rock: DP.
