Oh What a Lovely War was originally created in London in 1963 by the maverick director Joan Littlewood and her company Theatre Workshop. The play is a truly original portrait of the First World War which changed the world for ever. It is a satirical musical which highlights the ironies and tragedies of the First World War in stories and songs. Musicians, dancers, singers and clowns tell the entire story of the war and sing all the songs. The play includes a collection of disrespectful and poignant songs such as "Pack Up Your Troubles", "Keep The Home Fires Burning" and "It’s A Long Way To Tipperary" and of course, the plays namesake "Oh What A Lovely War".
