As the pro-democracy ‘Umbrella Movement’ in Hong Kong reaches a fourth week, prospects for a resolution to the deadlock between the government and the protesters remain uncertain. Perhaps more than ever, this is a good time to look at how the movement came about as well as where it may be heading. Following a well-received first walk last Sunday, Walk in Hong Kong will be doing another walk through the main protest site in Admiralty, next Monday (27 October) evening. This centre stage of the movement has been a highly peaceful and colourful spectacle of determination, courage, wit and creativity. Here we’ll talk about the background of the movement, the major events of the past four weeks, what’s happening on the spot at the protests, as well as what may happen next. We’ll especially focus on some of the most inspiring/interesting/artistic corners at the site as well as tell you protesters’ stories that we’ve personally heard.
