The Human Roots exhibition presented by IAOHIN Gallery and Sofitel Macau at Pointe 16 aims at confronting men with their roots in nature. On display in both locations are extraordinary, powerful wood pieces by French contemporary sculptor, Mickaël Obrénovitch, who represents the artistic movement of organic sculpture. His pieces are made up of 200-year-old teak tree roots found on Java Island in Indonesia. Vestiges of a disappearing colony, these stumps symbolise nature’s fragility. They endure the passing of time, while letting it does its work. The roots look as if they were gestating, waiting for the sculptor to spur their rebirth. The aspiration of Obrenovitch’s abstract art is to trace the silhouette of life, and to provoke a dialogue between the ancient wood and men. Presented by IAOHIN Gallery
