As one of the most renowned French video artists, Robert Cahen has won numerous awards worldwide. Cahen is a pioneer both in the field of electronic musical instruments and video art.
Graduated from the Conservatoire national supérieur de musique (CNSM) in Paris, Cahen coordinates and transforms music, the art of time, in his videos. Time has always been a key element in Cahen’s creations of video art.
Cahen explores through the interaction of sound and graphics, and experiments with time, space and vision using super slow motion and sound processing, creating a poetic and lyrical atmosphere.
Cahen has opened up a brand new area of video art. Through his approach, short notes are stretched into long sounds, rhythms are extended into flowing melodies; motion graphics move and travel through gentle breath, illustrating unconventional visual variations. Cahen’s works are ethereal, refreshing with their unique charm.
Traverse: Video Installations by Robert Cahen will exhibit 17 of Cahen’s works, including 5 videos and 12 video installations.
